About the Journal

Focus and Scope

JHAP aims to promote research in and provide a forum for discussion of the history of analytic philosophy. ‘History’ and ‘analytic’ are understood broadly. JHAP takes the history of analytic philosophy to be part of analytic philosophy. Accordingly, it publishes historical research that interacts with the ongoing concerns of analytic philosophy and with the history of other twentieth century philosophical traditions. In addition to research articles, JHAP publishes discussion notes and reviews.

Publication Ethics

The Journal for the History of Analytical Philosophy (JHAP) is committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards in its reviewing process and in the content it publishes. You can find our detailed publication ethics and malpractice statement here.

Peer Review Process

Submissions to JHAP, with the exception of reviews, are refereed anonymously. The system we use is doubly-anonymous, in that authors’ names are not shared with reviewers, and reviewers’ names are not shared with authors.

Policy on Reviewer Availibility and Paper Decisions

In cases where a submitted paper receives one negative (decline) verdict and a second reviewer cannot be secured after repeated attempts, the journal will adhere to the following procedure to ensure a timely resolution: If, after reaching out to five potential reviewers no additional review can be obtained, the paper will be desk rejected.
